Orcas Community Resource Center established Coates’ Cabinet in 2017 to combat hygiene poverty and promote wellness. Each month, clients may choose an allotment of essential household and personal hygiene products from current inventory. No one should have to forgo basic essentials that help maintain cleanliness. We provide shampoo, conditioner and body wash so families and individuals have necessary bathing products. We provide toothbrushes, toothpaste and floss as a critical part of maintaining oral hygiene. We provide TP, tampons and pads, baby wipes and diapers to ensure folks have access to proper sanitary supplies. In short, we provide dignity for Islanders. If you are a current Orcas Community Resource Center or Orcas Island Food Bank client, you are eligible for a free monthly allocation of household and personal hygiene items.
PROGRAM GUIDELINES
Each household is eligible for a base of seven items + one item per additional household member.
ex: a household of 3 persons would receive 7 items + 2 additional items for a total of 9 items per month.
1. Coates Cabinet hours: 12:00pm-4:00pm on Tuesdays
2. You may order ahead by calling 360-376-3184 or ORDER ONLINE by 12:00pm on Monday.
3. Staff will collect and bag items for orders placed ahead of time.
*NOTE: If you cannot pick up bags during this time, please stop by the office during open hours (Mon-Fri).
We no longer leave bags outside for after-hours pick-up.
Clients may access Coates Cabinet ONE TIME EACH MONTH.
